Colossians 3:1-11

Its easy to miss something you're not looking for.

What if the bear was like something that God wants us to focus upon, but our eyes are instead fixated on the men in white?

If we are serious about our faith in Christ, we must live our lives seriously. We can joke and we can laugh of course, God is no a boring God, but the focus in our lives must be clear. We set our minds on things above, not on earthly things. We live our lives surrounding things like God's kingdom, souls and the Word of God, not on materialistic things like money, games and food.

The message translation of Colossians 3:5-6 says: 'And that means killing off everything connected with that way of death: sexual promiscuity, impurity, lust, doing whatever you feel like whenever you feel like it, and grabbing whatever attracts your fancy. That's a life shaped by things and feelings instead of by God.'

To kill it indicates that it is never coming back, for it has been slain. when it comes to issues of sin, it is easier to give in then to resist. To give money to a bully extorting it is indeed easier than trying to confront him, but it is necessary. Are we stuck in a bad habit? Make a decisive break away from sin. If its the songs we listen to in our lives that influence us, then choose to not let it surround us. Kill it!

We want to be connected with God once again, and we cant do that with sin in our lives. We need to come to know who we are in Christ. Are we comfortable in the barnyard of the world we live in, eagles acting like chickens? We were meant to live for higher realms.

We are called to live our lives radically, so let us let our lives please God, as we chase after His heart!
