I Am.

I AM.
Colossians 3:12 - 17
"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Using the OBSM that we learnt about, we zoom into Colossians 3:16,
'Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."
Therefore, we should let the word of Christ be the monopoly of our lives.

Comparing John 8:58 and Exodus 3, we read that God is the great I Am. Other forms of english come and go, but 'I am' will stay the same - Yesterday, today, tomorrow, always. By saying that He is 'I Am', God is affirming us that He is unchanging. Like the bible characters Abraham, Jacob, Zechariah, Mary, Joseph and many others, our lives are but a few words in God's history book, that surpasses beyond the pages of Revelations. Contrary to us, God's name is there throughout the pages of the book and beyond.

Humans are competitive. We tend to want to look good, decked out in labels of being the best in class, best in CCA, best in platoon, most popular, most retweeted, most reblogged person. However, this quest to be the best is extremely exhausting. It's a never-ending climb. Relying on our own strength to achieve such material labels will soon drain us one day. Why not look to God and serve Him, "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him?" I believe, God will provide according to His will. He gives us strength to work on things that matter for eternity, and blesses us along the way with his gifts. In addition, we should do everything in the name of the Lord, and not use His name to make ourselves look good. We should purely want to serve Him, and not be like the Pharisees, living their lives putting themselves at the centre-- its going to go terribly wrong. We should serve to bless His name, and not to use His name to bless ours. We want to glorify God through our designs, our worship, our actions, anot not by proclaiming God's name, make ourselves look 'good' and 'holy'.

All in all, we should reach a point when we enjoy being small.
God is Able.
God is Saviour.
God is the Centre.
God is the Maker.
God is All-knowing.
God is Powerful.
God is Liberating.
God is Everything.
If God is 'I Am', We are not.
We're not Able.
We're not Saviour.
We're not the Centre.
We're not the Maker.
We're not All-knowing.
We're not Powerful.
We're not Liberating.
We're not Everything.
We. Are. Not. God.

Let us live our lives with open palms, for God to give and take anything away. Let Him be more than a Saviour. Let Him be Lord.
