Live Out Loud! (Part II)

Heres just one additional one from our very own camp commandant!

Eugene Leong - Kairos - Member of Grenothiesssu - Camp Commandant

For many, camps end with a plunging feeling, due to an array of reasons. Perhaps it is due to the end to the back-to-back fellowship with the family we have in God; perhaps due to the end to the exciting games that span the day; perhaps due to the end of the breather we take from the harsh and hectic routines of studies and CCAs.

I've always missed the feeling of attending a camp. Youth camps, especially, are a personal favourite. Those who share this feeling would agree that we identify ourselves with the camp, the activities, the people and the things we learn about ourselves, one another and God.

We feel fondly for the experiences we have even in that short four days or so. After all, we're on a learning journey. It is God's blessing that I was privileged to experience and learn even more this year than in the previous years. I've learnt from God; from myself; from the faithful committee serving alongside me; from the Eagles who introduced me to edifying leadership and service; and from many unique "commoners".

I've learnt to Listen to the opinions of others and value their perspectives; to Offer my assistance whenever people may need it; to Value other as the ones Jesus died for; and to Encourage others to be the people God envisioned them to be in His great plans. I've learnt to LOVE with actions, to live out loud the love God pours into our lives so we can pour it into the lives of others.

To me, a camp is successful not because of perfect plans or excellent executions -- but because we encountered God in the midst of it all. In that same spirit, may we value every encounter with God, even our weekly Saturday gatherings to meet God as a family.

To God be all glory!
